Course-Based Portfolio

Campus Fee

Please check the Tuition cost of the course (the PLAR Department can confirm the exact amount).

Open Learning Fee

$520 (initial) flat fee + $36 per credit awarded (after assessment completion)

Example

• A student wants to challenge two courses (6 credits)
• They pay $520 (initial flat fee) to begin the process
• Upon successful completion of each challenge (done one at a time), they pay the fee of $36 per credit awarded. In this case, they would pay $36 x 6 credits = $216
• The total fee would be $520 + $216 = $736 for 6 credits

Competency-based and course-based portfolios

$750 flat fee (competency-based) + $36 per credit awarded (course-based)

The $520 flat fee is waived for course-based portfolio creation when students have already completed the competency-based portfolio.

Challenge Exams

$100 per credit ($300 for a typical 3-credit course)

Credit Bank

If you graduated from a TRU PLAR partner institution within the dates of the Partnership Agreement, there is no fee. If you graduated outside of agreement dates or earned your health care diploma at a private institution that we don’t have a Partnership Agreement with, an additional PLAR assessment fee of $36/credit to a maximum of $540 is required.
